In an effort to get a little greener by ditching the plastic bottles, I decided to switch from Seventh Generation Free and Clear LIQUID laundry detergent to their POWDERED laundry detergent. Soon after the big switch, a friend warned me that powdered detergents are harsher than their liquid counterparts and are harder on washing machines. Crap. Is this true for Seventh Generation products? I needed to get to the bottom of this.

Most kids are heading back to school this week so the grocery stores are stocking the end caps with lots of colorful, easy school lunch foods. The one that caught my eye is the Oscar Mayer Lunchables with Fruit made by Kraft Foods. It sure looks good for kids, especially compared to the other Lunchables kits that include unhealthy options like ham and Oreo cookies. But looks can be deceiving. Now that Goose is a year old and 20lbs, I need to think about upgrading her car seat to a forward-facing convertible. The thought of sifting through reviews and research makes my head spin. Thankfully, Ecomom.com did the legwork for me by finding a toddler car seat that is cool looking, super safe AND eco-friendly.

After Goose's first birthday party, I was asked why I didn't allow her to eat "real" desserts (store-bought pies in this case), but rather only "permitted" her to eat the diced apple pie made with organic apples and cinnamon. I hated that question for a few reasons.
